Acts Reality TV Show... Alternative content for you to consider

Image
The Acts Reality show is a Christian-themed show coming from the stables of Acts Multimedia Studios, you should register to participate if e sure for you... (Photo credit: Naija's Dream) I’ll be working on the next Big Brother Nigeria as a content creator, for housemates’ tasks and games, I’m excited about that but that isn’t exactly what today’s post is all about. Speaking of BBN, each time some conservatives get the opportunity to address the Big Brother Nigeria show, or any reality TV show that involves some level of nudity, offensive language, or anything at all they don’t agree with, you see some disgust in their comments and they stop at nothing to wash down the contents. Individual differences should be respected at all levels, objectivity doesn’t fly out the window when you don’t fancy something, and it’s not for you, that’s not a problem, why don’t you just go for content that aligns with your faith? Here’s one and I hope you’ll jump at it. My friends at Acts Multi

Bellerin... A friend you hate to love

Image
My friend, my brother... Happy birthday Bellerin. Ignore the gentleman looks, o ya weyreh ju Putin lo. (Photo credit: Naija Pundits) Friends are the real essence of life; as much as many of us like to keep our distance from people, partly due to experiences and fear of the unknown, having folks to laugh with and cry with remains an integral part of why we exist. Today, I choose to celebrate Bellerin… A friend indeed. Love him or hate him; he’s a great guy. Annoying 80% of the time, but in him, you have a friend you can trust, one you can call on in dire times and be sure of his genuine efforts to help, Seyi Okusanwo’s birthday is today, and it’s his turn to grace my blog. He has many names, Bellerin, Fletcher, Nesta, Olu-Gabriel, Aaby to, mention a few. If anything jumps at you from these names, you’d know he loves football even though his punditry leaves too much to be desired; left to him, you’d probably still have Mourinho in charge at Manchester United. I’ll come back to hi

I lost my neckpiece, Will was right and I bleed for Nigeria

Image
Part of what makes you a man is your ability to stand up for yours when need be, the question of where would pop up but I won't teach anyone how to react. (Photo credit: My Arsenal group) My gold neckpiece is gone, I am pained but I will not be answering questions on how I lost it. My neck is bare and that good feeling it gives is no more, I can’t pretend like I’m not hurt but it is what it is… It’s Precious’s birthday today, one of those bursting brains in the experiential marketing business. Talk of beauty and brains, she’s my favorite and she knows it but my gold chain is paining me so she will get her eulogy at the right time… I hope you understand. So Damola will be going to work physically for the first time in Canada having been running things virtually since relocating last year, she’s five hours behind Nigeria on time zone and she didn’t sleep at all throughout the night, kids will always be kids. I woke up to the sad news of the terrorism the nation suffered on th

Customers are not always right...

Image
I stand to be corrected but I disagree with that cliche that customers are always right, I will stand before God on judgment day to argue this out. E sure for me. (Photo credit: Wande's whatsapp status) There are lots of things we’ve found ways to include in our existence constitution without actually talking about them, many are wrong clichés especially as Nigerians, like someone waking up to think “bogus” means big and people ran with it without checking… One of those is the age-long saying: “customer is always right”, which gives stupid people the free pass to get away with so many impunity, I am here to tell you today that customers are not always right and more than half the time, they’re wrong and I will happily tell them. As an agency man, I’ve been on the receiving end of lots of bashings from clients, my hands are up in the air for days we didn’t come correct which I can count with fingers on just one hand, but for uncountable number of days we’ve had to cover up for

Happy Mothers' Day but do y'all care about fathers?

Image
Happy Mothers' day to all the amazing mothers in the world, those wicked ones can get their wishes from their respective covens. (Photo credit: Google) Today happens to be Mothers’ day, like the 17th this year and I’m sure we’ll still have 32 more before the end of the year... it is what it is and trust me, I’m not complaining. I’m writing so late today because it’s been a difficult weekend, I’m no longer on one eye, stitches are completely off and the two eyes can see clearly, devil lost this one and onto the next battle, Rambo won this one, congratulations are in order. I’m not doing plenty shalaye today, I just want to share a few gists of mothers’ day and probably remind y’all to maintain same energy when it’s fathers’ day... wait, is there even fathers’ day? SMH. Most times, it’s Google that reminds us that it’s Fathers’ day and we don’t even get to see creative from brands… Adeola made my day with her WhatsApp status, wish I could munch some to show y’all, I’m literal

Naija jollof beats Ghana jollof hands down

Image
Naija Jollof beats Ghana Jollofs everyday and three times on Sundays. That's my verdict and that's on periodt! (Photo credit: Stephanie's kitchen) Hello everyone, especially those that reached out yesterday to send me love and light after my eye surgery, it means so much to me and all I can say is thank you. The eye is open but there’s still little I can do, but I have to write something so I’ll just rant about how difficult it was to watch the “Jollof derby” of last night with one eye and how everything was looking weird and double to me, it wasn’t funny to be honest. The stitches are off, for those trying to call me on video to laugh at me. I don’t know how those that live with one eye manage, let alone those in complete darkness, I agree totally that the eye remains the king of the body parts and we must guard it with everything we have. I saw optical illusion without even having to try, everything looked strange, colors weren’t the same the fact that I must not

Straight outta the theatre...

Image
Happy birthday Pritei and Ola Dwaye, I hope the universe brings both of you together someday but that's if Ola ends the comic affair he advertised to us recently. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) Hello everyone and welcome to my blogpost for today. The weekend is here and it’s time to hit the reset button. As much as I had stuff I planned to share today, the heart is willing but the body cannot can, you know why?  That horrible looking mass that was protruding out of my left eye had to be taken off and I just got out of the theatre… So, with one eye, I'll try to write something to keep you busy for two to three minutes and also to keep up this 365 days challenge. I was going to write about Pritei and Ola Dwane today. I actually feel both of them should get married, one is a French Yoruba demon and the other is a militant from Naija Delta. Two open minded miscreants if you ask me, they’d gel along but how do I make that happen? Let me just wish them happy birthday and m

Is Korede Bello living up to the hype?

Image
Been resisting the urge all these while but I can't hold it back anymore, is Korede Bello living up to the hype of Godwin? (Photo credit: Woodin) There would be days like this and if you’re a fan of the act under review, I can’t stop you from taking offense but in your heart of heart, you’ll know that the question I’m raising is valid and while it might not really be my business, but I have to ask… Is Korede Bello living up to the hype? I remember the days of Dorobucci by Mavin, whoever your fav was in that clan then, you’d agree with me that Korede Bello was the star of that particular track and from then, at least for the two to three years that followed, he looked like the closest to the top among the rave of the moment then. Remember the most controversial Headies award ever? The one that had Reekado Banks, Lil Kesh, Cynthia Morgan, Korede Bello and Kizz Daniel? While the first two on this list were the most touted, I actually thought that award belonged to Kizz Daniel an

Adebimpe Omo Oba... My very own Iyawo Alhaji

Image
Happy birthday my favorite girl, live long and prosper, and I pray you find strength to handle your grown baby. (Photo credit: Soji Oni) I have a few “celebrity friends” that I legit respect, those I down-tool for when they call, those I go any length for when they need me… Mo-Bimpe is not only one of them, she’s actually on top of that tree. I always knew I was going to write this today and suddenly, all the beautiful words I had in mind to use to describe this special friend of mine has disappeared lol, it happens and I’ll just tell a few things I know about her that you might not know yet. I was working on something with my team for one of the brands we service and it was important for us to sign a brand ambassador, nearly everyone on my team nominated Mo and I didn’t understand it, I didn’t know jack about her then, so I had to look up movies she appeared in. The first thing that struck me was the fact that she kinda like cancer stories, then I figured she cries effortlessl

#HorribleBosses: Ebun needs help

Image
Minister of "F" word affairs, Ebun Okubanjo tearing into someone as usual. (Photo credit: Bento) Going through the #HorribleBosses thread, I can only be grateful to God because I can’t relate and I’ve worked with tons of bosses and line managers, I’ve had the best of them and while many recount their pains, I should count my blessings too. I must state categorically that I’m a very annoying person, which I’m not sorry for, I’ve had amazing teammates all around, from Insight, to Eslia, To Niche IMC, to X3m Ideas, to Madison & Park, to BR and even my own Intelligence Republic. I had an offer to join Bento before I went to Mad & Park, thank God I dodged that bullet because how in the world was I supposed to work with such a toxic ass human? How do you scream down everyone at every opportunity? To what end? I’ve always maintained that if you have to shout to win an argument, it means you don’t have a point. I am not passing judgment on social media trial basis, th

Glow different with NIVEA's Perfect & Radiant.... Thank me later

Image
NIVEA is changing the name of the famous Natural Fairness, watch out for the activations in stores near you. (Photo credit: NIVEA) Sometime in 2012, I had a deep conversation with a friend that did all sorts to dump her natural skin color, at the time of the conversation, she was already full of regrets because she was battling lots of skin reactions, it certainly wasn’t my place to judge her but her reason for bleaching left me speechless. So, there was this guy she liked, they never spoke for a second but she once heard the guy telling someone of his admiration for light skinned ladies, she registered it in her head that she didn’t stand a chance with the guy as a brown skin girl, she went the Tura way and the rest is history. I remember when Beverly Naya (not my fav I must say) partnered with NIVEA to produce a documentary about skin, it was established again that people bleach for different reasons, one of you people’s favs was on the project, he/she wished to go back to his/

Shameless hungry ex-internationals seek daily bread at Tinubu's doorsteps

Image
Look at Aghahowa looking like a yahoo boy, foolish hungry lots. (Photo credit: One whatsapp group) I’d finished posting my write up for yesterday before I saw a video of some ex-internationals that I once idolized, earning their brown envelopes in a supposed show of support for the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu… Make no mistakes, I have absolutely nothing against Tinubu’s presidential bid. He is more than qualified to test his popularity up there and if he indeed decides to go all the way with this and wins the APC ticket, good luck to him, but the actions of those ex-players in the video I saw needs questioning. As I have always posited, no one has to agree with my takes, that’s why there’s a comment section for you to bare your minds, I understand there’s a place of free will but the actions of those players spoke of hunger, not passion or anything else. In case you haven’t seen it, former players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria went to Bourdillon to meet with Tin

Are we over-reliant on prayers?

Image
I can tell you for free that payer works, but aren't we becoming over reliant on prayers? (Photo credit: Google) I was raised in a CAC family and if you know anything about me at all, you’d know I don’t joke with the place of prayers, in fact my 6:30am to 7:45am is forever dedicated to next level prayers with Harvesters, but having looked at lots of people and how they do things, I’m tempted to ask a crazy question. I said crazy because in this part of the world, especially as a Christian, you’re not allowed to question any religious beliefs, but I’m asking objectively, are we over reliant on prayers? Not sure I can survive without communication with God in praise, worship and prayers, but are we overdoing things? You too see. A friend called me on my way back from work yesterday evening and shared what’s going on with her mother with me; she’s been ill for a while and it borders around bladder problems. I asked her about what the doctors are saying and she said her mother is

It's a busy weekend for me...

Image
The weekend is upon us but it will be a busy one for me, I'm not complaining and I hope I enjoy it. (Photo credit: Medium) Cheers to the freaking weekend yh? I don’t think so cos man’s got lots to do but there’s no need for complains, we prayed for this so we have to find ways to enjoy packed schedules, it is what it is. Okay, I’m a bit excited because I’m on another movie project, I’ll be writing the story of another Netflix project, it gladdens me because I have the freedom to think and as a matter of fact, I have been handed the license to do as I wish… fun times huh? Is that what I’m talking about today? Well why not? It’s 4:13pm and I have less than ten minutes to do this, someone is waiting to have me look at something and I better get to it as I don’t wanna spend a second after 5pm inside this building. Oh, we finished the deck we were working on yesterday. Of course we didn’t finish it yesterday as I had to let the married man go but we beat deadline, that’s how we

One of those days...

Image
My ever dependable friend in times like this... Thank you. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) It’s 17:27 and I’m just penning something for today, there are always going to be days like that and to be honest, it’s been a very challenging week but you wouldn’t be able to tell because man’s still gotta finesse his way through… you know na *winks*. So today, there’s really nothing tangible to write about because there’s actually no time to do so and as I type, I’m shuffling between tabs. I’m working on something that is due tomorrow and I must come through, maybe I should even talk about it. Before then, how have you guys been coping with this national grid nonsense? Not like I believe their collapse stories because I read somewhere that they’re owing one vendor 1.6trillion Naira, I won’t put anything past these people. How is power supply in your area? Mine is non-existent and burning fuel isn’t as sexy as you think but I’m happy for my own, you see those diesel people, now they

Sugar Rush the movie... My honest review

Image
How do you bring all these beautiful women under one roof and still deliver an underwhelming production? Sugar Rush didn't live up to the hype for me, what about you? (Photo credit: IMDb) I’m a big Banky W fan, from his early days of Rihanna’s Umbrella cover to everything he’s done with EME, especially the gift of Wizkid up to his movie debut, I strongly feel he’s one of the best we’ve ever had and if I was eligible to vote in his constituency, I’d have voted him at the last election. That said, I have a few takes on Sugar Rush – the movie and I gave that background so no one would think it’s coming from a point of bias. If you haven’t seen it, Sugar Rush was produced by Jade Osiberu and came from the stables of Banky W’s EME. To go straight to the point, I’ll rate the movie 4/10 and it hurts more when you realize the director is one of the best in the continent, Kayode Kasum. I think they neglected the basics and trusted the expertise of the casts to make the movie bang, no

Thoughts of a frustrated man...

Image
There are days we have to live with things we can't change, our attitude through it says a lot about the healing process... (Photo credit: Shutter Stock) There are days like this that you question everything, confidence is low and it feels like the sun is shining elsewhere, then you wonder what happens to the clothes you have on the railings… The weekend wasn’t the best, it was one hell of a lonely one and the pains that rose from waves that didn’t come from the seas made matters worse, I’m well and truly aware that everyday won’t speak your language no matter how many hours you spend on NLP or other prayer platforms, it is what it is… It took a lot of bravery for me to choose to talk about this today. Yes, some level of frustrations fueled it but trust me, we hardly find reasons to talk about our individual challenges, beyond the fact that not everyone cares, we also sometimes feel it’s a general something so just keep yours together… right? I’m a scoliosis patient, well i

Why do y'all hate Mondays?

Image
Feeling cute, might delete later. Mondays are meant to be enjoyed, not endured... What do you think?  (Photo credit: Adebukola of BR) When people update their social media posts immediately after lunchtime on Sundays, it’s usually gloomy and depressing, the departure from the fun posts from Friday evening to Sunday morning is always obvious, the reason is because most people hate Mondays. Why do most people have low energy on Mondays? I say this for a fact, Mondays are my favorite days, wait… After Fridays of course but I always look forward to a fresh start but everywhere I’ve been, I realize I'm the only one on this vibe. I know WPRs can be damning but that’s only when you have nothing to report, and in that regard, it’s because you’re not doing your job as you should, WPR should be an opportunity for you to shine, it’s always my avenue to gloat, you don’t feel the same way? Trust me there are Mondays I don’t have lots to report in terms of progress but I’ll still finesse
