Why are we quick to encourage divorce?

Image
Happy first wedding anniversary my people. One down, forever to go. (Photo credit: Adedimeji Lateef) It’s my friends’ first wedding anniversary today and I’ll have to write about the marriage institution and how I feel about it right now. I remember talking about how much I dread divorce on this journey, I still do and I have enough reasons to be a lot more afraid. I’m happy for a few celebrity marriages I have in my circle. Pamilerin Adegoke got married about a month ago now and I’m excited about him and Motun his wife; David walked the aisle with Sandra and Ebuka Bullet crossed seven seas to bring home his wife too, I’m super happy for my men. However, why do we have homes breaking every day with folks eager to encourage couples to break up as e dey hot when they’re no longer enjoying it? I know I stand a risk of contradicting myself a bit but I’ll still go ahead and share my take. Take it from me, humans are fickle. I remember I wrote about domestic violence and the fact...

Rambo's marketing masterclass - Part 2

Image
This episode if for people trying to understand their target market. I hope you learn a thing or two. (Photo credit: Check my previous post) Welcome back to Rambo’s marketing masterclass and today, I’ll be telling you why you should target more than the actual people and channels you think your services are for. I am responsible for what I say and what I mean by it, you’re responsible for how you distill or interpret it, e get why. You’re a food vendor and your channels are Instagram, Facebook and Twitter; your targets are predominantly men like me – a busy Lagos bachelor, busy working-class women and few other categories including folks that just don’t fancy cooking or prefer to have someone else do the honors… In your head, your targets are defined and you believe they will see your posts on the listed social media channels; you’re not wrong trust me but what gives you the edge over the other vendors on same channels targeting same people? Have you considered targeting “sup...

How I saved Jane from her Twitter boyfriend

Image
Jane thought she was on the right track to earning free millions until Special Agent Rambo helped out. (Photo credit: Google) There’s no time I talk to Ebere that I don’t remember the ill-fated money-doubling scheme called MMM that year. My conversation this morning on my way to work with a former colleague that was about to be scammed before Special Agent Rambo stepped in brought this to mind. Jane and I worked in the same agency about eight years ago, she was one hell of a smart lady then; a proven copywriter that also doubled as a rich media manager, social media wasn’t all that then but she was one of the earlier frontiers. A contact she met on Twitter introduced a scheme to her and it looked so believable as she was making money without personal investment. She didn’t tell me but I’ll bet my life there’s more between them than “hello how are you” but that isn’t why I’m writing today. The contact (male of course) talked her into a scheme that doubles investment on the s...

Which of these are you opening first?

Image
If this were to be on your device, which of these apps are you opening first? (Photo credit: Biola's WhatsApp status) I saw this on Biola’s WhatsApp status the other day and opted to jump on it. I certainly don’t have all of these; I don’t use snapchat, Boomplay or TikTok, I’ll talk through the order of importance of each app on the average. There are instances where I’d likely jump this process but I don’t think it would be often; all things being equal, which of the social/professional apps up there would I open first considering I have messages from all of them? I don’t expect same answers from everyone but here’s my own order. If that pic up there were to be mine, I’m opening the email first. One of my teammates lost a scholarship opportunity recently by sleeping on emails; I know a lot of people that missed job opportunities due to poor email attitude. I refresh my email more than any other app and that’s on God! Next would be WhatsApp, I might not readily reply all me...

Sodomy at Chrisland school... Who is to blame?

Image
The video of the Chrisland school kids performing sexual acts is nothing but pure Sodomy, where do we go from here? (Photo credit: Shutter Stock) The internet has been frustrating of late, for lots of reasons and I can’t pretend to un-see the latest one – the Chrisland school madness on a Dubai trip. I know most of you are waiting for the part two of the gym violence, I was honestly going to continue the story today but the video I saw, of a ten-year-old girl doing stuff with boys of his age group threw me off grid. I’m aware that there are more footages than the one I saw but I can’t can anymore. Everything is wrong with our society and no one is even free of blames. I’ve seen too many questions surrounding the Chrisland school incident, from people you’ll ordinarily expect better from and I wonder where our future truly lies at the rate at which we’re sliding down the curve. Expect the recent alibi to rise to people’s rescue here, “who never fuck up hands in the air”, you...

Not like I care but please pray for Chelsea

Image
Chelsea football club is in trouble, they're going back to the trenches and I love to see it, but please pray for them. (Photo credit: @CFC) So last night was crazy, unfortunately I can’t write about it. I know how crazy Twitter is and how one error can ruin lots, fan base of one of the lost “blindly loved” celebrities descended on one of my loves and I have to take full responsibility, it was my fault. There’s a reason I can’t write about it, in fact there’s no ginger to write today so I’ll just talk about what is happening to Chelsea and the noisy fans. While I don’t want politics in football, I’m happy that these “agberos” will be humbled. Chelsea learned on Thursday that their owner, Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK government following the global clampdown on Russian Oligarchs, thereby freezing his assets including the London club. It’s been coming and the Russian billionaire was well and truly aware. He moved earlier to circumvent this ugly eventuality b...

Chicken Republic and the dancing security guards...

Image
These are the boys that neglected core duty to follow fame, at the expense of the brand they represent and the security company that hired them. (Photo credit: Pulse TV) 75% of calls I’ve received in the last 48hours have been from people who wanted my take on the trending incident at Chicken Republic where two security guards were filmed dancing at their duty post with different narratives making the rounds as an offshoot of that. To set it straight, Chicken Republic weren’t the direct owners of those boys, as you all know about the fact that security companies outsource and manage security guards for companies, I’d like to share a few insight and hope those that followed sensationalism on Twitter and IG learn something. I know Tom Salem Security, employers of those dancing boys inside out, I have spoken with the company’s MD, Mr. Biodun Opawole (CPP) a good number of times since the incident happened and he confirmed what some of us already knew. The boys were having fun ...
