Unusual food combinations, what is you people's problem?

Image
How can someone eat this? How do you people come up with devilish food combinations? I need answers. (Photo credit: Google) Hey people, good to have you here again today. I’ve been on the phone with Ebere for about an hour now and she’s ranting to me about how unhappy she is. Relationship issues will make the best of people cry but I’m not writing about that today. I mentioned unusual food combinations yesterday and it brings back memories of my days at BR. We had an “idea farm” session where we bantered about several ideas and then we plug them into brands that fit. I didn’t expect how this particular one turned out LOL. We mulled over a series of ideas as shared by a couple of people and then I asked casually, “what can we do around the nonsense combinations people conjure all in the name of food creativity?” and boom! Toyin jumped on it, KDS bought into it and the rest is history. Do you know that some people eat yam and rice? Noodles and beans? Okro on rice? Egusi on a ...

Rambo's marketing masterclass - Part 1

Image
This is me giving back to the community. Thank me later. (Photo credit: You should know if you're a serious person) Today, I choose to render service to you people even if you’re not paying me for it. You don’t have to thank me, I’m nice like that and if you’re a small business owner of you have a brand you want to push, grab your note pad… This is a masterclass with a touch of unseriousness. You sell items that people need from time to time but your IG is locked LMAO, brain is paining you. Except you’re a fraud like most of those girls I wrote about sometime ago, you’re doing yourself a huge disservice. Your nonsense principle will only lead you closer to hunger and I’ll not send you urgent 2k. How well do you know your target consumer? Who is even your target consumer? Where do they play? Who are their friends? Who are the people that influence how they decide? What fascinates them? What influences their decisions? If you don’t have answers to these questions, you’ll just b...

Panda's wife and the memories of Tinubu Road

Image
Happy birthday beautiful and uber-smart Toyin Adepegba, my good friend from Tinubu Road. (Photo credit: Toyin's WhatsApp status) Toyin Adepegba is 40 today, today is also my parents’ wedding anniversary and it evokes some nostalgia from way back. I remember how they celebrated one particular year, that shit made me start thinking of getting married at just 10… Look at me now LOL. This post is about Toyin, a great human by all standards. She was my first friend at Brand Regimen, she knows her job and has this drive that won’t let her settle for anything below her standards. Let me share a few things I copped from here during our days as colleagues. Toyin was the Business Development Manager at BR and later had to fill in when there was a gap on one of the Account Management Team, one measure of her success in that role as far as I saw was how good Joy became as her protégé, that counts for a lot. While I was the lead on decks and strategy plans, Toyin offered solid outlets o...

The women of BR... (Part 2)

Image
Adebukola, the Peridot of our time. I hope to see your exploits on BR's social media account. (Photo credit: BRSFS on IG) I’ve always thrived in a workplace where beautiful women share workstations with me, and I have always been vocal about it, today I wish to bring you the sequel to the women of BR that I once wrote about, you can read about it here if you missed it:  The women of BR... Part 1 (mydirtyboxers.blogspot.com) I have subbed Yinka a couple of times without really saying much about her, she’s the baby girl of BR, always looking at the time towards closing time because she has a date, but trust her to come the next morning to remind you of the fact that she’s single… No be juju be that? Yinka works on the Blue account, she manages brand promoters and events alongside Habibat and I can say for a fact that she’s a lot nicer than the latter; she knows how to give cooler responses and while that can be soothing to the recipients, they hold no water because she won...

#HorribleBosses: Ebun needs help

Image
Minister of "F" word affairs, Ebun Okubanjo tearing into someone as usual. (Photo credit: Bento) Going through the #HorribleBosses thread, I can only be grateful to God because I can’t relate and I’ve worked with tons of bosses and line managers, I’ve had the best of them and while many recount their pains, I should count my blessings too. I must state categorically that I’m a very annoying person, which I’m not sorry for, I’ve had amazing teammates all around, from Insight, to Eslia, To Niche IMC, to X3m Ideas, to Madison & Park, to BR and even my own Intelligence Republic. I had an offer to join Bento before I went to Mad & Park, thank God I dodged that bullet because how in the world was I supposed to work with such a toxic ass human? How do you scream down everyone at every opportunity? To what end? I’ve always maintained that if you have to shout to win an argument, it means you don’t have a point. I am not passing judgment on social media trial basis, th...

One of those days...

Image
My ever dependable friend in times like this... Thank you. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) It’s 17:27 and I’m just penning something for today, there are always going to be days like that and to be honest, it’s been a very challenging week but you wouldn’t be able to tell because man’s still gotta finesse his way through… you know na *winks*. So today, there’s really nothing tangible to write about because there’s actually no time to do so and as I type, I’m shuffling between tabs. I’m working on something that is due tomorrow and I must come through, maybe I should even talk about it. Before then, how have you guys been coping with this national grid nonsense? Not like I believe their collapse stories because I read somewhere that they’re owing one vendor 1.6trillion Naira, I won’t put anything past these people. How is power supply in your area? Mine is non-existent and burning fuel isn’t as sexy as you think but I’m happy for my own, you see those diesel people, now they...

Why do y'all hate Mondays?

Image
Feeling cute, might delete later. Mondays are meant to be enjoyed, not endured... What do you think?  (Photo credit: Adebukola of BR) When people update their social media posts immediately after lunchtime on Sundays, it’s usually gloomy and depressing, the departure from the fun posts from Friday evening to Sunday morning is always obvious, the reason is because most people hate Mondays. Why do most people have low energy on Mondays? I say this for a fact, Mondays are my favorite days, wait… After Fridays of course but I always look forward to a fresh start but everywhere I’ve been, I realize I'm the only one on this vibe. I know WPRs can be damning but that’s only when you have nothing to report, and in that regard, it’s because you’re not doing your job as you should, WPR should be an opportunity for you to shine, it’s always my avenue to gloat, you don’t feel the same way? Trust me there are Mondays I don’t have lots to report in terms of progress but I’ll still fi...

I wish Yakubu well but I won't forgive him

Image
Look at them, from L-R. FM, Olumide, Yakubu, Gbemisola and Benneth. (Photo credit: Chinasa) One thing my job has taught me is that people always leave. It hurts when some do and it’s just good riddance when others do, I’m one hell of an emotional being, I’m not an enemy of progress so anyone can go find fulfilment elsewhere but I won’t forgive Yakubu. Wale Awonusi’s exit at M&P would have been my biggest miss but I left before him, I probably would have cried cos he was my sidekick at work, not like his way was that pure, but he’s the most professional I’ve ever worked with and boy, dude knows his job. When Toyin Adepegba told me she was leaving BR, a part of me froze; you know how it feels to lose someone that gives ideas, she’s energetic and always the life of the party, coming out of the blues to announce departure hurts but I could understand hers… LAK has always been slippery, I will keep his story till the day I decide to write about him, Odia was never a BR kinda...
