For Rambo, it's a year of big decision

Image
Welcome to 2026, I hope it brings us all the best of our heart desires.  That familiar January gragra is in the air; the motivational quotes, the fake discipline, the spiritual enthusiasm that expires by Week Two. But relax, I’m not here to make promises. Not even to myself. I won’t be here as consistently as I should, but I also don’t plan on washing my dirty boxers this year, so by default, I’ll be here more than I was last year. Progress is progress. Let me speak in the language of the streets: “Last year was a rollercoaster.” LOL. Nonsense and Manchester City. Every year is a rollercoaster for you people, as if life ever promised to be a straight road. Even Dangote once burst into tears when Tinubu pressed his neck, so please, who are you again? Welcome to 2026. We will have fun. It will speak better things for me. I will break boundaries, test new waters, and challenge myself more. I will read more books, visit new places, and buy myself a gift every month, because nobody ...

Why are we quick to encourage divorce?

Image
Happy first wedding anniversary my people. One down, forever to go. (Photo credit: Adedimeji Lateef) It’s my friends’ first wedding anniversary today and I’ll have to write about the marriage institution and how I feel about it right now. I remember talking about how much I dread divorce on this journey, I still do and I have enough reasons to be a lot more afraid. I’m happy for a few celebrity marriages I have in my circle. Pamilerin Adegoke got married about a month ago now and I’m excited about him and Motun his wife; David walked the aisle with Sandra and Ebuka Bullet crossed seven seas to bring home his wife too, I’m super happy for my men. However, why do we have homes breaking every day with folks eager to encourage couples to break up as e dey hot when they’re no longer enjoying it? I know I stand a risk of contradicting myself a bit but I’ll still go ahead and share my take. Take it from me, humans are fickle. I remember I wrote about domestic violence and the fact...

Kabiesi's birthday, Ayinla on netflix and other stories

Image
Happy birthday Oba J.O Awolola, stay kinging my Gee. (Photo credit: Charles Adewale Awolola) The weekend is here, and I’m excited for my babies, that is taking a big step towards eternal happiness, and for myself, because I need rest; although I’d only be taking Sunday for myself, that would be the only free day I’d be having in the last one month so allow me to spend the day how I want it. So my girls are having their registry wedding tomorrow, and although I won’t be there, they can rent B.J as their father for tomorrow; I’ll happily resume duties afterward. I’m pleased for them and wish them skin-deep happiness in their respective choices. Ayinla is now on Netflix, and I’m waiting for reviews. If you’re seeing it for the first time, kindly look out for the story, the props, costumes, use of language, role plays, and of course, the place of Alhaji himself – Adedimeji Lateef. I’ll be waiting. Today is the birthday of one guy that’s a father to me. His children have a way of maki...

AMVCA 2022: My heart was broken when I saw the nominations

Image
I am disappointed that Ayinla didn't get nominated in any category for AMVCA but we live to fight another day, (Photo credit: My photo gallery) I haven’t said anything about the AMVCA nominations since it was released and you won’t be wrong if you thought I was heartbroken, yes I was and I haven’t recovered from the shock but I’ve found solace in the fact that I’ll be seeing my ideas play out at the event, fair enough. Err… Do you need me to explain that? Well, Desperados, Tiger Beer, Lush Hair and Amstel Malta – the headline sponsors are brands my agency work with, hence we’ll be activating the event from start to finish. Back to the point, I was shell shocked that Adedimeji Lateef didn’t get a single nomination for the monstrous 2021 he had and that Ayinla didn’t get a single nomination as well; I couldn’t understand why and for two days, I was dazed like I hit my head on the wall but again… It is what it is. Why would I think Ayinla should be nominated? The story was imp...

Adebimpe Omo Oba... My very own Iyawo Alhaji

Image
Happy birthday my favorite girl, live long and prosper, and I pray you find strength to handle your grown baby. (Photo credit: Soji Oni) I have a few “celebrity friends” that I legit respect, those I down-tool for when they call, those I go any length for when they need me… Mo-Bimpe is not only one of them, she’s actually on top of that tree. I always knew I was going to write this today and suddenly, all the beautiful words I had in mind to use to describe this special friend of mine has disappeared lol, it happens and I’ll just tell a few things I know about her that you might not know yet. I was working on something with my team for one of the brands we service and it was important for us to sign a brand ambassador, nearly everyone on my team nominated Mo and I didn’t understand it, I didn’t know jack about her then, so I had to look up movies she appeared in. The first thing that struck me was the fact that she kinda like cancer stories, then I figured she cries effortl...

Sugar Rush the movie... My honest review

Image
How do you bring all these beautiful women under one roof and still deliver an underwhelming production? Sugar Rush didn't live up to the hype for me, what about you? (Photo credit: IMDb) I’m a big Banky W fan, from his early days of Rihanna’s Umbrella cover to everything he’s done with EME, especially the gift of Wizkid up to his movie debut, I strongly feel he’s one of the best we’ve ever had and if I was eligible to vote in his constituency, I’d have voted him at the last election. That said, I have a few takes on Sugar Rush – the movie and I gave that background so no one would think it’s coming from a point of bias. If you haven’t seen it, Sugar Rush was produced by Jade Osiberu and came from the stables of Banky W’s EME. To go straight to the point, I’ll rate the movie 4/10 and it hurts more when you realize the director is one of the best in the continent, Kayode Kasum. I think they neglected the basics and trusted the expertise of the casts to make the movie bang, no ...

The NEPA Boys are the kings of local content

Image
Kamo and Ozain are the real deal when it comes to local content, their comedy is special, check them out and thank me later. (Photo credit: @Thenepabois) Content creators and skit makers are blowing up the Nigerian entertainment space and we’re loving it. I won’t say someone isn’t funny or another one isn’t good enough, I’ll simply say they’re not for me but today, I want to celebrate The NEPA Bois. There are chances that a non-Yoruba person might not be able to relate well with their content, but I’m not sure there’s anytime I come across their skits without laughing wildly, they’re that good and this has absolutely nothing to do with hype, I currently don’t work with them but the possibility is there. Kamo and Ozain started off as the popular NEPA officials, chronicling situations from power officials on duty and the challenges they face from time to time, if you’ve ever been embarrassed by these people in real life, you’ll relate well with these boys. I stumbled on them ...
