One hellish year and my one and half legs

Image
This has been like a home recently but, the goal is to get stronger when it gets tougher. I'm fighting to win. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) I remember promising Bukky (formerly the Peridot of BR, now the Peridot of UK) that I'd write a lot this month; it definitely won’t be every day like I did last year, but I’ll try, and here you go. To start with, it’s been a tough year by all standards. Not sure there’s ever a year in which I felt half as much physical pain as this year; 2019 had the inglorious award until 2023 pulled up, and here’s me hoping I’ll never have to see a more painful year than this one. The past three weeks have been the toughest. I spent more days with the physiotherapists than at work, but I am probably the strongest human I know. I am not giving up anytime soon, but the pains better ease up before I do something crazy. Yesterday was the International Day of People Living with Disabilities. It should be a public holiday, but while I wasn’t physicall...

I think I jinxed the weekend...

It is what it is... Get well soon Rambo. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) I think I jinxed the weekend and it’s all on me. It was a quiet day at work, I was hoping the weekend would recharge me and set me up for a strong week starting from Monday but hey… I jinxed it. Scrap what I wrote about yesterday, I crashed my knee on the Duo Libra wall shortly after I finished writing and I’m in severe pains. Brave strong man in the mud, I hope I don’t have PTSD each time I walk in and I look to the right, trust me this is not on the Duo guys. Of course I tried to chest it, the point I tried to stand up twice and my lower back responded with stinging pains, I knew John Wick's dog had died on my hand and would need more than strength to get to the car... It was hard to take especially considering where it happened. The knee is badly swollen and I’m worried because the ankle has always been the problem but this one time, the left knee gave way at a wrong time and very much at the wron...

The Igbobi nurse that wanted to amputate my ankle (Part 2)

The smile that follows a very dark hour, like seed... Still I rise. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) …I looked into the eyes of their motivational speaker, I smiled and looked away. I saw optimism and confidence in his eyes that he has won the battle, he didn’t know I was trying hard to stay civil with him but in the end, I got to realize that not everyone has my kinda positive attitude to life. This is the sequel to the story of Igbobi hospital people trying to amputate my ankle because of my incessant breakdowns, you can’t exactly blame them, even an employer turned his back on me because of same but the confidence of Rambo never goes away so we stay fighting… It was arguably the darkest hour of my life, lots of questions running through my mind but there was something that remained constant, my positive attitude. I was so sure that no matter what happens, I'd still be the best version of myself available, glad I live to tell the story... Iyalaya anybody. In case you mis...

Igbobi nurse wanted to amputate my left ankle

I know this ankle sometimes show me some opposition party vibes but I love it regardless, no one can talk me into losing you, we die here. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) It was probably the darkest hours of my life, I had some coping mechanisms but all failed at this time, felt like wild animals were haunting me within and it was raining brimstone outside, no one deserved to go through such pains even if you killed like Cain, it was crazy. I’ve had crisis in the past, many I managed well and some that resulted in damages and bruises. I remember tripping and breaking the marble basin at Babanla sometime in 2006, Mama Opa was the only one that understood, many stood there wondering if I wasn’t old enough to know I wasn’t supposed to lean on it… I’ve had falls that drew people, they didn’t know the “sorry’s” hurt more than the fall but I learned to manage that feeling, and then those that offer unsolicited pities especially on a job, making me having to prove myself every damn ...
