Mr. & Mrs. Gold... Ten years later

Image
Thank you for being an inspiration, congratulations and happy wedding anniversary. (Photo credit: Kenny Gold-Jegede) Today is my brother’s wedding anniversary, Mr. Gold I and LG, his heartthrob are ten years old in marriage today and beyond being happy for them, I am inspired. I know one or two nonsense people will ask me why I’m not married LOL, is marriage for everyone? If you don’t getat but today’s article isn’t about me, it’s about Maxi and LG and I am just here thanking God for them while also drawing inspiration from them. Where do I start from? I remember missing their engagement in Ife because I was writing my final exams in school; it was kinda strange to me that my brother was getting married and even though we had differences that bordered on individual differences, you can’t question the love. Their wedding was dope, the bride’s family came through with mad hospitality and to date, the relationship between the two families is enviable. There’s no event that hap...

Maxi, my big brother is 40 today...

It is how people say we look alike for me, abeg I'm finer than this, make nobody whine me. Happy birthday my big brother. Stay kinging boss. (Photo credit: Maxi) Today should be a public holiday for me but it has been my busiest day ever for 2022. It is what it is, work pressure hits different on certain days but that’s by the side, today is Maxi’s birthday, my daddy on earth, my big brother… A great guy by all standards. To think we struggled to get along while growing up, at some points, we were always at loggerheads and it was easy for me to conclude he was jealous of me LOL but today, I don’t think I have a better friend than my big brother, Maxwell Ayodele Olaniyan-Gold. I’m not sure one article is going to do justice to how I feel about this great guy; it is not even about the fact that he is my brother, but the fact that since our father left, Maxi has owned the role and he’s playing it better than how anyone else would have tried. How he comes through for the clan, ...

The day my father passed away...

I hope you're fine at the other end... Sleep on dad. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) 10 th October 2019, the day I questioned God and everything I knew as a man and as a Christian; the day I wondered if prayers ever work or if nursing faith and hoping on even ever makes sense… It was the day I lost my wildcard, my loving father. It was a Thursday, two days to my dream event as at then. I’d always wanted to work on NBC/Coca Cola, if you’re in my career space you’d probably have a dream account, mine was Coke and every other product within the portfolio and thanks to M&P, I was about to live the dream. We had battled everything towards getting ready for Jack Daniel’s “Jack and the beat”; it was a journey that took sleep away from me for a long time and lots of back and forte with my team. I was in the office as early as 6:30am to go through the deck with Kolade one more time and phone beepers went off. It rang a couple of times and I wasn’t going to pick, Kolade nudg...

Mixed emotions on my kid brother's birthday

Image
Happy birthday kid brother. Have an amazing new year. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) Some three decades and more ago, my mother handed me my immediate younger brother. He is the only younger one I don’t have a slight memory of his birth LOL of course I was barely two years old when he was born but as things stand today, 25 th of September 2022… He is still my next of kin. Speaking of next of kin, since dude is married, shouldn’t that be transferred to Bennie? Well that one too is planning wedding for December and the girls that followed that one too are married… Who will be my next of kin bayi? Abi I should start putting mumsy’s name ni? As her man don enter great beyond… I digress. There’s so much to write about my kid brother but I don’t know how to feel today. Dude is relocating to the UK like many others around me and that leaves me worried. I feel like a loner already, Maxi moved already and I just might be the only one left by the end of the year. Birthdays are quit...

Bennie is getting married...

Family is everything and I'm happy to announce to you that my kid brother is getting married. (Photo credit: Google) Family is everything, I am buzzing right now after quality time on the phone with my siblings earlier today and I say to you… Family is everything! I have three brothers, Maxi my big brother who lives in UK, my immediate younger brother BJ – married to Damola of Lagos – and Bennie, the numbers guy; we met online earlier today to discuss the girls’ wedding coming up in September. I’m announcing to y’all officially, my baby sisters are getting married in September in Ibadan; remember they’re twins? They’re getting married on the same day and I’m sure you’re wondering how many times they’re getting married LOL, what they had before were introduction and court affairs… You get? As I was penning this with excitement, Bennie shared a great news… He’s getting married and I can’t hide my excitement. He proposed to his woman and of course, no one says no to a true son...

It's my mother's birthday... My very own drama queen

This picture was from my baby sisters' introduction a little over a week ago. Happy birthday mummy. Have a beautiful new year. (Photo credit: Ramsey's iPhone) It is well documented that I always preferred my father to my mother, I have answered that a lot of times and even in death, I remain a daddy’s boy but the place of my mother in my life can never be underestimated. Today is my mother’s birthday, even when I wasn’t on a writing journey, I always found ways to script something for her but today, I choose to recount a few things from the past and maybe a little projection into the future, all for mummy. I’ll start with this, I’m having a great day. Had a presentation earlier today that went better than I ever imagined, we had great ideas to be honest but clients would always find a way to punch holes but there was nothing to criticize, we killed it and congratulations are in order. Yo Mummy! Lol I didn’t like my mother growing up and that was because she was always r...
