2025... The good, the bad and things you won't understand

Image
Probably my favorite picture of the year; genuine smiles, pure happiness and hope for a bigger and more rewarding 2026. (Photo credit: Seyi Lantern) It’s been a minute since I showed up here. A long one. And what a year it’s been; dramatic, chaotic, occasionally graceful, and stubbornly human. The kind of year that hands you joy with one hand and says “manage this nonsense” with the other. Plenty of good, fair portions of bad, and yes, the occasional ugly cameo, because life doesn’t do edited versions. Last night, while recording a podcast with IBK and AY of Ontario, a question surfaced — what were our most iconic sporting moments of the year? Innocent question. Dangerous consequences. Because it immediately shape-shifted into something deeper: what were my own iconic moments of 2025? And just like that, my mind took off without filing a flight plan. Quick disclaimer for first-timers: read me for vibes, not structure. If you’re trying to connect dots, you’ll need a compass, a trans...

Rambo, Omo Abule Sowo

Image
From now on and forever, I am your Real Estate plug. I am a phone call away. (Photo credit: Google) In the famous words of my late father, or was it Mumsy who used to say it? Nah, it’s my dad, and the saying goes, “If your income is coming from two sources as a Nigerian, you’re a poor man." He didn’t lie. I’ve been liquid enough to snatch people’s girlfriends, and I have been so broke that a broke Bashiru that year called me broke. I know how it feels to have money and the shame of not having it; it’s quite easy for me to choose the one I’d want to identify with. See, there’s no pride in poverty. I am a chop life gang ambassador, and outside has proven to be too expensive for my current energy; however, I am not trying to cut down on my extravagance. I only want to be able to afford it, and I have stumbled on a great plan. I have studied people who have so much money that they don’t ever look at the price tag when shopping. The goal for them has always been to make way more tha...

Bode the way...

Image
Happy birthday Bode my guy. Stay kingling. (Photo credit: Naija Pundit) I woke up with this funny sensation in my left eye and I’m a little worried. It’s painful and it gets worse if I get sharp exposure to rays of light but what am I Supposed to do when I’ll be staring at the laptop all day? Lemme digress. Today is Bode’s birthday. He is a friend and a brother from the famous Naija Pundits group. Bode is cool by all standards; he is our resident tech guy and he’s always there to answer all our tech needs. Since Maxi moved to the UK, he also doubles as my DSTV renewal guy. Speaking of DSTV renewals, Bode tries to remind me a day before the due date which is typically the 11 th of every month and he’s always quick to bring product information to us – he works with a tech firm that supplies support to Multichoice, which explains why he’s able to help. Bode once tried to link me up with a lady lol, that was long ago by the way; 2016 to be precise but it ended in tears, all bl...

Is Laycon really worth the hype?

Image
On this day, Dipo Ogun, Ope Cole, Cookie, Phada, Slimee and a few others brought the roof down when Ebuka announced what we already knew but in hindsight, is Laycon really worth the hype? (Photo credit: Multichoice) The Level Up season of Big Brother Naija just ended and I must say it was a crazy journey; for us at Riquesa, it was beyond rollercoaster, especially with the team having to come in every day to come up with new tasks LOL. We’re glad our bit turned out well and we’ll happily accept our flowers. Today I want to take it back a bit to the Lockdown season, remember how a certain Laycon was painted as the most intelligent human alive, and everyone ran with it? While this article is not to shade the BBN Season 5 winner, it’s basically my attempt at teaching us what worked then and what you can learn from it. First and foremost, I must give it to Scarlett and the rest of the team that worked on Laycon, omo! These people legit sold snow to our Eskimos. They made us believ...

Steven's wedding and few doses of reality checks

Image
Steven and his beautiful bride, happy married life folks. You left Bellerin and Fancy in this cold world of singlehood. (Photo credit: Naija Pundits) Yesterday had everything, from canceling on Steven and his bride, to getting a call from Slimee and the other two musketeers on a potential flight ticket – that eventually worked out, to a road trip that was quite entertaining and then some reality checks from Opeyemi and Omolara, it had everything. Thanks to everyone that reached out after reading my article of yesterday, I didn’t mean to get anyone worried but sometimes, even the sun has its sinking spell. I feel a lot better and would be back to full fitness in the coming days, until then… We stay jiggy. I remember a conversation with Opeyemi sometime in April where she used a particular line on me – “soul searching”, it didn’t make any sense until a short conversation yesterday where she did what she does best, sting unprovoked LOL but in all of the subliminal messages she p...

I just want to rant...

Image
It's a rant day and I am not done, I will be back with more rants. Thank you. (Photo credit: Google) Today is rant day. Thanks for coming and you can stop reading from here if you’re not in the mood to be irritated. I will not be taking any nonsense pity party and I will not apologize if my rant annoys anyone. Thanks for coming and see you tomorrow – if you’re stopping here. My back problem is well documented and not new to anyone that knows me enough; yes, I’m a scoliosis patient and it’s as bad as it gets but again, they don’t call me Rambo for me to deal with basic things – big problems only – crazy adventures only – mad ass tasks only – big engines only… You get? Thursday was quite difficult. I was in the middle of a session with my people when I figured my lower back got stiff; it got worse and as always, had to land in the physio. Yesterday didn’t bring better news in that regard and that’s why I’m angry. I’m that guy that likes to run away from verbal confrontations ...

I've been sleeping on Judge Judy all these while

Image
Judge Judy cannot rival the premier league but she is now my second favorite show on TV and that's on God! (Photo credit: CBS) I’ve been sleeping on Judge Judy for way too long and now I’m awake. When Ebuka and Justice Olusola Williams mirrored CBS Reality show, Judge Judy and lots of people were criticizing the direct plagiarism, I was in their defense for a reason… We have copied lots of reality shows and each has its own audience; Who wants to be a millionaire, Naija’s got talent, Idols, Big Brother Naija and many more were shows that we copied directly so why not Judging Matters? Let’s be calming down. I’m basically here to tell you how my Monday is going. Of course, I’ve been behind my laptop all day, shuffling between tabs and making sure I’m as productive as I should be regardless of the public holiday, I guess my Monday has been programmed like this and no complains. Was home alone till BJ, my immediate younger brother knocked. Always a pleasure having any of my sib...

In the pursuit of Sallah meat...

Image
I am going to enjoy myself today and wish you're able to do so at your end too... (Photo credit: You know na )   LOL, they want to beat me because I asked why we’re getting Monday and Tuesday as public holidays for events that fell over the weekend; rest is highly important but we’re lazy AF in this country whether we like to admit it or not. It’s the same reason why religious organizations are buying up businesses to convert them to worship centers and as long as you can pray, you automatically feel entitled to success. We’d rather work for two days and rest for five days or whatnot right? Nonsense. I like as rain is cancelling all your “outside” plans. I’ve seen three different hangout fliers announcing cancellation of events due to flood; if you can’t go to work because you want holidays your because you want to pin it on flood, your “ shedibalabala ” plans will not stand too. 1-1. I’m going to Slimee’s to celebrate Sallah tho, you can “ yinmu ” from today till tomo...

Overthinking no dey solve problems...

Image
I am saying this to you and you have to take it, stop worrying and go get a drink, dance to good music and call that person that makes you happy. Overthinking no dey solve problems my people. (Photo credit: Google) One of my very good friends called me earlier today to rant, she thinks the world is crashing at her feet and she was indeed losing it. I was in the right place so I was able to listen but, in the end, I was able to make her smile, of course by reminding her of how she used to run after a certain celebrity that year… LOL. I know people react to things differently but if we try our best to worry less and look away from the size of what we’re dealing with, we’d see solutions right before our noses. I am convinced that God will never give us a challenge we can’t defeat, He loves us that much. I won’t be able to go into details but after we spoke for half an hour, she understood that she wasn’t the only one in that particular boat and hers is even better, I placed a call t...

Bellerin... A friend you hate to love

Image
My friend, my brother... Happy birthday Bellerin. Ignore the gentleman looks, o ya weyreh ju Putin lo. (Photo credit: Naija Pundits) Friends are the real essence of life; as much as many of us like to keep our distance from people, partly due to experiences and fear of the unknown, having folks to laugh with and cry with remains an integral part of why we exist. Today, I choose to celebrate Bellerin… A friend indeed. Love him or hate him; he’s a great guy. Annoying 80% of the time, but in him, you have a friend you can trust, one you can call on in dire times and be sure of his genuine efforts to help, Seyi Okusanwo’s birthday is today, and it’s his turn to grace my blog. He has many names, Bellerin, Fletcher, Nesta, Olu-Gabriel, Aaby to, mention a few. If anything jumps at you from these names, you’d know he loves football even though his punditry leaves too much to be desired; left to him, you’d probably still have Mourinho in charge at Manchester United. I’ll come back t...

My friend Slimee is a great guy

Image
He posted this picture recently on his return from Dubai with HIS WIFE, read that again, he's not single. (Photo credit: Naija Pundits) Let me remind you again that if you’re my friend, this moving train will hit you someday. You don’t have to agree with my write-up on you, I challenge you to pick your pen and write about me too if you’re slighted or you feel a need to equalize, today it’s the turn of Mr. ASK! Abdulsadiq Kosoko is one of the friends I made from Naija Pundits, one of the lively baggers in there with lots of energy to go around, a man of many colors, great on most days and a full blown nuisance on other days, I like him a lot and I’ll tell you why. Slimee, as he’s fondly called is into real estate and he’s not hesitant to help my forays into that industry, looks like all of them in that field are rich, I want to be rich too so I have started selling properties, edakun I’m begging you, come and buy what I’m selling. Shey I said we call him Slimee, he’s no long...
