BJ's trip and the tale of the sick, the thief and the confused

  The best brains are leaving the country and you can't blame them, even the next election doesn't offer much hope. We are now reduced to phone calls, DMs and emails – that is what we get for being Nigerians, it is what it is… I am worried for Nigeria. The best brains are leaving and we can’t do anything about it; there’s no help in sight with the sick, the thief and the confused squaring up at the next elections. Lol, I just got a message from another friend that has now relocated to Canada… Con be like say na only me remain LOL. Everyone is shouting, “get your PVC and vote”, social media influencers (those that are not or not yet on the payroll of the big two) are screaming “get your PVC and vote” and in my heart of heart I am asking: for who?   Democracy is a joke in Nigeria but we can celebrate because it's Buhari's last... Where do we go from here? (Photo credit: Someone's status) It’s the Democracy Day in Nigeria, a day set aside to celebrate the movement that granted us the supposed freedom to choose who lead us as the constitution allows but are we truly free? Can we say for sure, that since 1999 that the democratic dispensation started again after historic military abortions, that votes have counted and the principal officers that the people wanted have been the ones in charge? I’ve seen lots of ads by brands on democracy day and they’re mostly about asking people to get their PVC, and I’m wondering who we’re going to vote with the PVC when it is as clear as day that the battle is between the two parties that have failed us in the past. I know my compatriots are all about Peter Obi, but how many of these people understand how politics work in Nigeria? You need presence in every ward in every local go...
