Who gave the order?

Image
It's hard to forget, I hope the souls we lost rest in peace and pray their blood is eventually worth the  price. (Photo credit: Hannah's Status) There are days I don’t have to mull over topics, and today is one of such day. 20 th October 2020 is significant for lots of reasons – depending on the side of the divide you are and one that will continue to have consequences on all parties, I’ll explain. Personally, and from objective people in the know in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu has performed enough to earn a second term but if you go out there today to ask for his misdeeds, the majority of the feedback would be on his role on EndSars, that is quite unfair, but do you blame the aggrieved? I have no evidence, but I am not sure Tinubu had any hand in whatever happened that night at the Lekki tollgate; he wasn’t the president and he’s not even a serving officer so, how could he have been linked to the alleged massacre? Well, he is also paying for that night, he may not b...

Successful rally shows Peter Obi has a chance

Image
Heartwarming scenes at the peaceful rally for Peter Obi's mandate across Nigeria on Independence Day. (Photo credit: Twitter) To be honest, I have my reservations about the chances of Peter Obi at the 2023 polls for lots of reasons but yesterday’s development, even if it doesn’t necessarily answer much might be an indication that 2015 is possible all over again. I will totally ignore what Peter Obi can do when or if he wins simply because I don’t have enough sample to judge if we’re keeping it a buck and we’re not analyzing from the armchair or from uninformed emotions; I will dwell on yesterday and a few lessons I learned. I was not in any way involved in the Independence Day rally and that has zero bearing on my choices at the coming polls; I have not seen any report of assault or molestation on anyone and it’s important to laud that; did the government learn from #EndSars or it’s a ploy to be in good light ahead of elections? I was a little worried about the outcome of t...

My worries about the PVC concert...

Image
The EU is right behind the PVC concert, trying to help the youth to be actively involved in the election process but have we planned well enough? (Photo credit: Falz) I saw a video of the PVC concert at TBS and I worry a lot about our priorities. While I commend the drive of the opinion leaders in trying to make sure that more youths participate in the forthcoming election, the method is questionable and it might give birth to another crisis on its own. I saw a video of a situation at TBS that will most likely result in a stampede, if not properly managed, lives will be lost and lots of people will be injured; the government will pin the lives on the youth and the youths will find ways to switch the narrative to blame the government… There’s only one loser. Each time I remember how badly we managed EndSars, I cringe at a repeat of it especially when the advantage is with us; the goal of the PVC concert is to ensure more youths take the coming election seriously but why are th...

Pastor Tunde Bakare has bought nomination form

Image
Pastor Tunde Bakare has obtained the 100m APC nomination form. Interesting right? (Photo credit: Google) It’s quarter past 5 pm, and I haven’t written anything for today; I’m glad you all know there will be days I’ll just come in here, wave, and run along; you have to take me like that sometimes, thank you very much. Yo! So, I heard Pastor Tunde Bakare had bought the presidential nomination form… Omo! The race is getting interesting but isn’t it getting to a point where aspirants are becoming too much? We are probably going to have more aspirants than voters at this rate. I started a series of folks I will never vote for, I named my guy Dele Momodu already, but a certain drama followed that post; I’m laughing as it crossed my mind just now; the dude asked one of his boys to write me LMAO, Mr. President is angry… I’m hearing Lagos State APC will not field Governor Sanwo-Olu, and the reason is not because of EndSARS, it is not because of the issues surrounding NURTW and all, ...

EndSARS, Lekki Toll-Gate and the lessons within

Image
EndSARS was not a failure, we passed our messages but the lessons within should guide us for future situations. (Photo credit: Twitter) I lost a church member to police brutality, dude was at a bar, watching football over a drink and a trigger-happy police officer’s stray bullet hacked him down. #EndSARS was a movement that was long overdue, we had to do something about the indiscretions of some members of the Nigerian Police Force. I had a very long hard thought over this topic, it’s a sensitive one and I know a lot of people get emotional about it, it is what it is really, we have to take stocks at some points and the fact that we can’t all agree on same things is one of the beauties of existence. 20 th October of 2020 would go down as one of the darkest days of Nigeria as a nation, but events leading to that gory night could have been avoided if the people saddled with security and the enforcement of law and order did their jobs without issues. First I’d love to state t...
