Kabiesi's birthday, Ayinla on netflix and other stories

Happy birthday Oba J.O Awolola, stay kinging my Gee. (Photo credit: Charles Adewale Awolola)

The weekend is here, and I’m excited for my babies, that is taking a big step towards eternal happiness, and for myself, because I need rest; although I’d only be taking Sunday for myself, that would be the only free day I’d be having in the last one month so allow me to spend the day how I want it.

So my girls are having their registry wedding tomorrow, and although I won’t be there, they can rent B.J as their father for tomorrow; I’ll happily resume duties afterward. I’m pleased for them and wish them skin-deep happiness in their respective choices.

Ayinla is now on Netflix, and I’m waiting for reviews. If you’re seeing it for the first time, kindly look out for the story, the props, costumes, use of language, role plays, and of course, the place of Alhaji himself – Adedimeji Lateef. I’ll be waiting.

Today is the birthday of one guy that’s a father to me. His children have a way of making him seem like the return of the black general, but I don’t see him that way; I just feel he’s a guy that has his ways of doing things, and rightly, no one should teach people how to act.

Oba J.O Awolola is the king of Eda Oniyo in Ekiti State. A retired soldier, a seasoned farmer, and an entrepreneur. I read an article recently by one of the editors of The Nation newspaper; the writer chronicled some kings that turned the tiniest of villages into a city to be proud of; Oba Awolola was named among them.

His children are the testament to his greatness, all doing fine in their respective worlds, and the fact that one of them is the president of the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union explains how well he has managed a big family – The dude is a potential Ekiti governor, by the way, watch out for him.

Another general is celebrating today, Stevolalaski! This dude told us he would be getting married in a few weeks. Omo! Shame on Bellerin, Tunde Fancy, Ope Cole, and Bode (all of Naija Pundits); I don’t know if Dipo falls into this category, wait… Would someone mention me in this category, too right? Well… it is what it is.

Finally, one of my colleagues is moving on from us today, as always in this industry. She’s the energy goddess, should be dating Dotun if he wasn’t married. I’m not happy to see her go, and I’ve told her to pray never to jam me at a pitch because she’d be fighting to lose. All the best Oladunni.
