Glow different with NIVEA's Perfect & Radiant.... Thank me later
NIVEA is changing the name of the famous Natural Fairness, watch out for the activations in stores near you. (Photo credit: NIVEA) |
Sometime in 2012, I had a deep conversation with a friend that did all sorts to dump her natural skin color, at the time of the conversation, she was already full of regrets because she was battling lots of skin reactions, it certainly wasn’t my place to judge her but her reason for bleaching left me speechless.
So, there was
this guy she liked, they never spoke for a second but she once heard the guy
telling someone of his admiration for light skinned ladies, she registered it
in her head that she didn’t stand a chance with the guy as a brown skin girl,
she went the Tura way and the rest is history.
I remember when
Beverly Naya (not my fav I must say) partnered with NIVEA to produce a documentary
about skin, it was established again that people bleach for different reasons,
one of you people’s favs was on the project, he/she wished to go back to
his/her original skin tone in that production…
This brings
me to the crux of my story for today, know this and know peace, no NIVEA
product bleaches, regardless of the name given to it or the perception you have
around the product, and in this regard, the brand is re-launching her famous
Natural Fairness product, it has a new name now.
When George
Floyd died in the US in May 2020, lots of brands weighed in their opinions, but
when skincare brands tried to offer supports to the Black Lives Matter
movement, the backlash wasn’t funny with most people calling them hypocrites,
but not all of them have products that bleach.
I know a lot
of people that bought NIVEA’s Natural Fairness lotion and came back with tales
by moonlight of disappointment because it got them darker, Ronke was one of
them and at that time, she was singing it like a song on that her crooked
voice, she’s observing lent she can’t do nada.
NIVEA’s Natural
Fairness was designed to make you glow in your original skin tone, hence if you
have used all sorts to alter your skin tone, this particular NIVEA product will
reverse it back to the original skin tone, and you will glow and be glad
indeed.
However, in
light of the backlash from the Black Lives Matter movement, and to end the
conversation around whether it bleaches or not, NIVEA is changing the product
name from Natural Fairness to Perfect and Radiant, same product, same formula,
same fragrance… Just a different name.
It’s not my
place to give you ted talk about how beautiful you are in your own skin, you
reserve the rights to do what pleases you with your body and whatnot, but if
you ever need a product that would make you glow, consider this NIVEA product
and thank me later.
Watch out for
activations around you and communication in multiple channels about the name
change, nothing else has changed about the product, in a bid to end the misconception,
the brand has decided to make it easier, get used to Perfect and Radiant.
I rest here,
the idea of this post isn’t to even talk about those that wish to bleach, it’s
not exactly my business but I hope you seek medical advice before you embark on
a journey of no return… That sounds harsh huh? Okay, sha seek advise… Oluwa a
wa pelu e o.
