Shameless hungry ex-internationals seek daily bread at Tinubu's doorsteps
Look at Aghahowa looking like a yahoo boy, foolish hungry lots. (Photo credit: One whatsapp group) |
I’d finished posting my write up for yesterday before I saw a video of some ex-internationals that I once idolized, earning their brown envelopes in a supposed show of support for the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu…
Make no
mistakes, I have absolutely nothing against Tinubu’s presidential bid. He is
more than qualified to test his popularity up there and if he indeed decides to
go all the way with this and wins the APC ticket, good luck to him, but the
actions of those ex-players in the video I saw needs questioning.
As I have
always posited, no one has to agree with my takes, that’s why there’s a comment
section for you to bare your minds, I understand there’s a place of free will
but the actions of those players spoke of hunger, not passion or anything else.
In case you
haven’t seen it, former players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria went to
Bourdillon to meet with Tinubu on the occasion of his 70th birthday,
let’s pretend the “Jagaban Borgu” is truly 70, is football now a part of
politics or what?
Two time
African footballer of the year, Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Okocha, Victor Ikpeba, Ike
Shorounmu, Mutiu Adepoju, Peter Rufai, Dosu Joseph, Tijani Babangida and Garuba
Lawal were the ones I could figure out in the video and of course their prayer
warrior, Taribo West.
Speaking of
Taribo West, he was the one that led the prayer and was raining curses on
anyone that doesn’t want Asiwaju’s mandate to stand, I’m kuku not one of them
but you need to see his energy, we should not lie we should not steal, that energy
can only be induced by hunger.
Let’s cut the
crap, what was that nonsense for fuck sakes? They sat there looking like fools,
endorsing their pockets and you wonder what happened to all the money they made
as professionals, I can even understand for the likes of Dosu Joseph and Mutiu
Adepoju, at least we don’t see much from them around, but what about the ones
that have supposed top endorsements?
Okocha is on
my screen everyday screaming “you know who I am” in the now boring and
overplayed Bet King advert, many of the run punditry jobs for football
tournaments and Kanu can’t tell us he’s broke or doesn’t he have the Sporty Bet
money to spend?
Whatever you
do in this life, have shame o because I can’t even put this down to anything
else but gross sense of shamelessness, all of them took turns to grab the
microphone to yarn dust, so in your heart of hearts, you support Tinubu’s
mandate? Ah! God punish poverty.
Was that not
how some celebrities carried Buhari on their head that year? Sheybi they’re the
ones buying diesel for #800 now, o’npe for all of them but the thing touches me
too in more ways than one, so it’s Tinubu we should vote for now, nonsense and
ingredients.
The new week
is upon us and I won’t let these idiots start it for me on a crappy note, I
refuse to be angry. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit… We
go again.
Your take is quite erroneous and smacks of crass ignorance to put it mildly! The ex-players embarked on that visit as part of activities to mark Asiwaju's 70th birthday. Have you watched Kanu's video on the reason for the visit? He went ahead to declare in that video that Asiwaju was one of only 3 governors who supported his foundation with money when they needed funds. Let's leave all of these aside and assume that they went on that visit to endorse Asiwaju. What in God's name dictates that they cannot openly support Asiwaju's aspiration? Is Asiwaju not a citizen of Nigeria? Are the ex-internationals not Nigerians? Don't they have inalienable rights guaranteed under the constitution to associate freely? Why begrudge a man because he has an ambition? Why? The best you lots can do is to organize yourselves into a political party and present a candidate to slug it out against Asiwaju on election day. Stop demonizing Asiwaju and his supporters. Selah!
