Dunsin Oyekan is overrated!

How do I caption this image? Anyways I am not a big fan and it is what it is. (Photo credit: Dunsin Oyekan) |
I’ve come a long way on this journey and I’m proud of myself. Today is not for gloating so I will go straight to the point; I want to stir some people’s nest again like I have done a couple of times, I have tried as best as I could and still feel this way, Dunsin Oyekan is overrated.
You’re free to come for me, I have listened to him many
times, I have attended concerts he headlined and I have tried to get connected
and it hasn’t happened. I see him as a great singer and he deserves his
following but can we play down the hype a bit?
Hey, this is me sharing my personal sentiment and you’re not
supposed to agree. I am a bit Kizz Daniel fan and someone on my team can’t
stand him, no worries… It’s fine. Not everyone liked Jesus Christ when He was
roaming the earth physically so your fav can be questioned too right?
I’d been seeing people flirting with his most popular song,
Fragrance to fire for a long time before I finally listened to it and when I
did, same difference to be honest. I have never felt moved by his music and
again, while I am happy to announce to you that he does good music, I am just
saying I don’t feel him.
Step forward Nathaniel Bassey, there’s no time I hear this
man that I don’t fall into the spirit, his music creeps into me from line to
line, Dunsin Oyekan doesn’t give me that vibe; I have tried, I was patient and
it doesn’t mean he’s not good at what he does, not just for me.
Lara George hits differently for me, worship that bursts my brains
and connects me to the heavens without an HDMI cord, Dunsin Oyekan doesn’t gbe
mi debe at all. I’ll rather Emma Oh My God in most instances than you people’s
fav and that’s on Mary had a little lamb.
Steve Crown is a whole vibe too, haven’t heard lots of him of late
but forget, that guy does it for me. Another gospel act people rate that I
struggle to connect to is Eben, but today is about someone else so I won’t
digress. I’m not asking you not to listen to your favs tho.
He is a great performer and his crowd always enjoys him; I am also proud of his journey and how he leads an inspiring life. He just doesn't give me that connection I crave for in a gospel artiste and that doesn't take anything away from his greatness.
I’m not looking forward to lots of comments today but I know many
people will hit my DM to drag me, I am not bothered. I will still next your fav
when it comes on of course except I’m in the mood to listen to anything. Sola
Allyson’s praises, oya gbe mi trabaye!
Uhmmmm
ReplyDeleteI think we all have that Artist that no matter how hard they try we won't connect. Mine is Sinach, most of the time I sleep off whenever she is ministering
ReplyDeleteFunny enough, your fav isn't mine too. Nathaniel Bassey is a lot of people's fav but not mine. However, sound never does it for me but lyrical content.
ReplyDeleteI'd have said *let CM catch u*, but I won't
ReplyDeleteMy friend sent this to me and captioned it "someone agrees with you" I've been saying exact same thing for years. I don't feel the guy's music no matter how hard I try. If I was slresdy vibing in the realm with other songs I lose the connection once he comes on.
ReplyDeleteI would not have known who Dusin Oyekan is if i didnt read this... I cant recognize him even if he ran into me on the street.. But well alot of people love him so i guess hes a good singer.
