The Jezebel of Magodo - Part 2

Mercy suffered in American jail and still had to spend some time in a Nigerian detention on the instruction of Karim, what would you have her do? (Photo credit: Google)

Karim got married to Mercy in 2013. It was a low-key wedding as she was carrying their child already and they just had to make things official on her insistence. There were lots of doubts on many fronts; he’s Yoruba and she’s from Edo State, he’s a Muslim while she’s an unserious Christian, you get it?

Mercy had their first baby in the same year but their economy was so bad that she had to depend on her parents for the family to feed. Karim was into lotto business; he had a Baba Ijebu terminal and she was a college drop-out; she did a few activations job before she became a mother but had to stop when she became heavy with their child.

There were few issues that aren’t peculiar to them alone but Karim was also a woman beater so there were at least two days of public tension between them in a week. They lived on Emmanuel Street at Ojota then until one fateful Saturday, Karim beat Mercy to a pulp and she landed at Inland hospital Ogudu.

The hospital tried their best to stabilize Mercy before referring them to LUTH, it was later discovered that she lost a two-month-old pregnancy. It became full family feud, the bride’s family swore she would never return to Karim but as we all know the dynamics of a family with a child, it was soon settled.

They kept patching it up until 2015, another physical altercation led Mercy to the hospital again and this time, one of their distant cousins abroad stepped in. The family abroad needed a nanny for their kids in America, one thing led to the other and Mercy was soon in-flight to Baltimore to resume a new life.

Three months into Mercy’s sojourn in the US, she made up with Karim again and started sending money home for the care of the young boy between them. You don’t need anyone to tell you that Mercy is blindly in love with Karim and nothing said to her would break that bond of course except death.

After series of convincing over phone calls and BBM messages, Mercy agreed to dump her cousin’s children and went in search of a white partner as advised by Karim; the goal was to get her stability in the US so she can have enough money to fund Karim’s new lifestyle.

Certain things are unclear from 2016 as to what Mercy was up to in the States but she had sent well over $500k to Karim over three years and it was meant for property development and the wellbeing of Jubril (their son) but if you know Karim you’d think he’s Dangote.

Just so I collapse the story, Mercy went to jail and was released in 2019 after which she was sent back to Nigeria. Karim had moved to Magodo and living the life of his head. Jubril was dumped with his mother in Ife and he’s married to another woman.

Words got to Mercy and she traced Karim to the address. The Aboki at the gate refused her entry, she got few friends that knew their story to wade in but she was eventually arrested on the grounds of encroachment and threat to life, she suffered for three months before she took laws into his own hands…

To be continued...
