Some Bolt/Uber guys should be jailed
| Make no mistakes, the same guys you see on Uber are the same on Bolt, how they comport on Uber and then move mad on Bolt is what I will never understand. (Photo credit: Google) |
I’ve read and heard so much about cab hailing guys and their misgivings, from Twitter to IG and word of mouth, but my personal experiences thump them all with the latest being a gross insult to my sensibility by a silly guy that thought he was smart.
I have hinted
a couple of times about dispatch riders and my personal experience but again,
not today. I must make it clear that people are generally silly regardless of
profession, gender, tribe or whatnot and like someone says, Nigerians are just
badly behaved people.
A couple of
years ago, we heard of the Taxify guy that showed up at the address of a
supposed rider without the car, uncle what are you doing here without the car
that would carry the passenger, he said he had flat tire on his way and he
parked somewhere to come tell her… Remember the gist?
There’s so
much to say about these special people – I call them special because their
thinking is different and it boils down to people’s indiscretions towards
anything or any opportunity to make more money or rip people off, I know it’s
everywhere but it’s one sphere at a time.
There’s
hardly a week that passes without a story of sexual molestation allegations
against cab hailing guys, you can’t even make excuses for them because many of
them don’t just think and you wonder what the company owners actually do with
the ratings we give or complains we lodge.
In all
honesty, people are funny and I can tell you for free that some ladies actually
offer sex to cab drivers in exchange for rides. Some ladies would order a ride
without having money to pay and if the guy doesn’t agree to the sexual
arrangement, they try to blackmail him, I know that one dey but what’s the
ratio to the flip side of pure harassment by drivers towards passengers?
So, I ordered
a ride the other day and it wasn’t even a long distance. The driver accepted
the order and he called me almost immediately, I told him my location and
destination and he said he was on his way, I dropped the call and saw that dude
already arrived on the app but he was still five minutes away from me.
Ideally, when
you order a ride, you have a time estimate of when the driver will get to you
and he doesn’t say he has arrived until he’s at your location, this man didn’t
only claim he arrived while five minutes away, he also started the trip, no
be juju be that?
When I saw “driving
to destination” when on the app I could see he was still far away, I called him
and he didn’t pick up, at that point, I couldn’t end the trip again because it
already started, I waited patiently for him, he got to me and pretended nothing
happened, he simply rolled down and signaled me to hop in.
I brought out
my phone and showed him, I asked him who the passenger he was driving to the
destination was, with a bare straight face, dude feigned ignorance but he was
clearly trying to hide his phone so I wouldn’t see he was already on the trip.
I stood there
and didn’t move, he came down and begged me that it was network, when he saw I
wasn’t having it, he claimed it was a mistake that a call came in and in the
process he mistakenly swiped to start the trip, I felt insulted really because
his excuses were making a bad situation worse.
Some of them
would accept trips and even after a phone call, they wouldn’t tell you their
tank is empty until they pick you up and they have started the trip, then you’ll
hear “please I need to top up fuel”, on who’s time? On who’s billing?
Then there
are these ones that found a way to hike ride estimates. I used to have a car on
Uber, my driver then told me all the ways drivers employ to make riders pay
more, these are the people that will tell you the president is a fool or a
governor is a thief.
There’s so
much to say about these people to be honest, the talkative that won’t shut up
like you’re asking for their opinions, you can imagine being on a phone call
and your bolt driver is putting ajasa like it’s his business, Lol it’s actually
funny.
What are your
experiences with cab hailing guys? By the way, I hope you know the same guys on
Bolt are the ones on Uber? They just strangely behave better when they accept
on Uber, I don’t know why and it must be down to measure put in place by Uber.
Drop me your
experiences with these drivers and please, leave your name behind or you’re not
tired of being unknown? Thank you.
