I will never look at BRT buses the same way again
I haven't looked at these buses the same way since Bamise's death but we all must now ensure we consider safety as individual responsibility. (Photo credit: LAGBUS) |
Do you think Bamise’s case was the first of such from BRT drivers? Do you think it was a one off and we can all close our eyes and shut our hearts to that ugly and heart shattering incident?
Ever since the
news of the young lady’s demise in the hands of the BRT driver broke out, I
haven’t seen those blue and red buses the same way, and if this counts for
anything, I have mini panic attacks each time I see them, I’m not capping.
These days
you’ll see me pressing my phone while in transit, it’s basically because I don’t
want to see these buses, I have to snap out of it for sure as avoiding them isn’t
sustainable, until I’m able to achieve that, the snub continues.
Let’s get
this straight, I do not believe Bamise’s case was the first by that BRT driver
or that was the first and only ugly incident involving BRT buses, I’m convinced
without any evidence that lots of such must have happened in the past.
Now I’m
thinking, some of those bodies lying around that people are quick to pass
judgment on, are they really accidents? For those that are ladies, did their
boyfriends really use them? Those missing ladies that you think ran off with
their boyfriends, do you still feel the same way?
You too see,
if Bamise didn’t make a video and share with a friend when she suspected foul
play, or if her body wasn’t found and connected to her initial fears, wouldn’t
social media people have pinned that on another yahoo boy? Of which God will
punish those ones too, every single one of them.
This brings
me to my point of today, you’re responsible for your own security and you can’t
afford to be stupid. Gone are those days of “I dey come”, someone has to
know your whereabouts and it’s not for monitoring purposes as you think, it’s
basic safety measure.
You’re going
on a date? Fuck that secrecy nonsense, tell someone about it and put on your
location as well, no one wants to jinx your relationship, it’s for your own
good because the heart of men is now worse than being desperately wicked.
Promiscuous
people will find other ways to beat around these days of course except they want
to die cheaply, let the person you’re with know that your location is on and
visible to some people, that serves as a deterrence in case the person wants to
move mad.
Where are
you? “I dey one side like that”, uncle don’t be stupid, that isn’t a
valid answer. I’m not saying you shouldn’t go spend the weekend with your
boyfriend, e no really concern me but how many people know that boyfriend with
you?
“Keep it private”
yen yen yen, be playing with death there, all the ones you kept private in the
past, didn’t they all end in tears? I don’t have tears to cry for anyone again,
please be wise with that friend you met on Facebook or that guy you’re smiling
with in your Twitter DM, Oluwa a wa pelu e o.
Sad but true. Oluwa ah wa pelu wa. Thanks for sharing.
